So since my last entry my opinon on Fun Fridays has drasctically changed. I have already talked to my Project Search teacher about this. Hopefully we end up splitting up more of our classroom time between work and fun.
The thing that bothers me about Fun Fridays is that we are supposed to be training for jobs and I feel the kinds of activities that we do takes time away from working on job skills we should be training for. Celebrting birthdays and holidays or doing community service activites doesn't bother me but there are certain other things I feel we can do with out
This first rotation is flying by... I can't believe there is less than a month until its over I found out that Marketing has no open positions which is a bummer so I had to go back and revise my list of departments I am interested in . The Front Desk is my #1 choice.
Here are the rest of my choices for potential internship sites
1st Choice #2 Cardiovascular Center or Dictation Internships just opened up in these department. The Cardiovascular Center is office work which involves data entry,answering phones and taking messages and filing. Dictation is taking notes at meetings and typing them up at a later time.

2nd Choice Breast Care Center
3rd Choice Endoscopy
4th Choice 3 North
Back Up Mail Delivery
I can't wait to start the interview process and learn more about the new departments that are opening up positions.

It's been awhile
So it's been awhile since I have posted an update of substance. Since Alumni Weekend what has happened? Let's see.
The whole week after Alumni Weekend I was sick. I went to work every day because on some days I felt better than other. Since I work with cancer paitents I was advised to stay home so I could fully recover. The day off from work benefited me. That weekend I was supposed to go the Milford Pumpkin Festival and Warner Fall Foliage Festival with Matt and Sonya but I didn't want to get either of them sick so I postponed getting together with them until this past weekend. Project Search has been going well. I am really liking my internship in the Oncology Center and will be really sad when it has to end after Thanksgiving. I hope finding an internship for the 2nd rotation won't be as hard as finding and intnrnship for the first rotation. Last weekend I went down to Boston with Matt to go to a birthday party for his cousin Danielle. I was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of her friends and they were really nice. This past weekend I relazed on Friday night , Saturday I want to Peterborough for the day and walked around down town. I hadn't been there in such a long time and had forgotten how beautiful it is there. We went to the Mariposa Musuem which was really fun. We then went to Toadstool Bookstore. Matt cooked us dinner then we hung out and watched Scooby Doo on TV. Sonya says I look like the actress who plays Thelma and I sort of agree with her. Sonya wasn't feeling too good so she went home early and Matt and I went to Friday's to go to karaoke. To our unfourtunate diasppointment we found out it was cancelled. Apparently there has been a disagreement between the djs and the management. Hopefully the issue gets resolved or we will probably go someplace else for karaoke or do something else on Saturday nights. This weeken I am going to Ithaca for Family Weekend. I can't wait to see my sister! :0) Pictures to come nexr Monday.

On the topic of gay rights
I had an entry that was posted in my livejournal that I was trying to copy and paste but for some reason my computer isn't letting me copy and paste
Two weeks ago there a tragic event that happened at Rutgers University in NJ. Tyler Cliemente, a freshmen student committed suicide. He was gay and his roommate posted a video on him having a sexual encounter with another man. This is disgusting to me. It is already so hard to fit in this society and being gay doesn't make things any easier. Bullying has been a hot topic issue in the news for a year and this issue also can relate to that because people can be bullied for many different things. In general I think people need to have more of an open mind towards gays and realize that aside from their sexual orientation they are not much different then their straight counterparts.
Wear purple on Wednesday in honor of Tyler and other gay teens who have died recently because of being bullied. We all need to support the LGBT community and let them know that they are accepted in the society.

Fun Fridays and talks of rotation 2
So to give our minds a break from the stressful and busy work weeks the job trainers iniated Fun Fridays. What this means is that every Friday afternoon after our half hour break we do a fun activity to unwind. Last week we decorated cookies. I missed that because I was out sick but luckily there are tons of cookies left over so we will get to do that tomorrow as well since there were a few people absent last Friday besides me. I think that Fun Fridays is a really good idea.
We found out more updates about Scott's injury. He is going to be having surgury on Monday and then will be out for 10 weeks recovering. I will be filling in for him in the Oncolgy Center while he is out. I am wishing a speedy recovery for him. Last week was really slow in IT so I didn't have a lot to do on Tuesday. Thursday I had more to do but I had trouble focussing because I wasn't feeling good. Staying home on Friday really helped me out because it helped me to recover from my cold... which I initally thought was allegies but it turned out being a cold. The Oncolgy Center keeps me on my toes and I really like the people I work with there. I also like the people in IT too.
This morning in morning meeting we talked about the next rotation and what our intended internship sites will be. We each shared what we do for our current internship, what we like about and our top 3 choices for our 2nd rotaion.
MY top 3 choice are
1. Marketing (hopefully they have an opening,.. if not then my back up is the Front Desk)
2. Breast Care Center
3. Endoscopy.

Couldn't wait a week to update about the epic fun that was Alumni Weekend.. so thus here is my update
Three words describe Alumni Weekend this year BEST TIME EVER!!! The weather was gorgeous! Matt and I got up to NEC at 11:30 and then met Cooper and walked down to the Turf Field (which used to be the parking lot behind West Residence Hall) for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The field was dedicated to Don Melander an english profressor who recently retired. It was a very nice dedication ceremony. We then walked to the Simon Center Lawn for a bbq. I had to make a quick diversion to the Pharmacy to get a throw away camera because my digital camera decided not work. Hopefully the pictures come out good. I tend not to have very good luck with taking pics with disposable cameras. The bbq was delcious and it was so nice to see Erin and Nikki and catch up. HELL it was nice to see everyone. I got to see so many people I havent seen since I graduated the list includes

After lunch we walked up to the square to go see live music and an exhibit at the Art Gallery. Saw a couple of my former professors and it was nice to see them. We then headed back down to the turf field to go watch the Women's Soccer game vs Roger Wiilliams. We left at half time because the game was uninteresting. We left Henniker at 4:30 and then went to the Homecoming Game at Souhegan. Talked to Joey Abis at lenght. I asked him about the audition process for the PTA Play and he said it's realtively laid back. I feel less intimiadated about auditioning now . I am actually more excited then nervous. Gives me something to look forward to after Christmas.
Alumni Weekend was the best! I can't wait til next year. Pics to come later.

We then headed back down to the turf field to go watch the Women's Soccer game vs Roger Wiilliams. We left at half time because the game was uninteresting. We left Henniker at 4:30 and then went to the Homecoming Game at Souhegan. Talked to Joey Abis at lenght. I asked him about the audition process for the PTA Play and he said it's realtively laid back. I feel less intimiadated about auditioning now . I am actually more excited then nervous. Gives me something to look forward to after Christmas.
Alumni Weekend was the best! I can't wait til next year. Pics to come later.

As a brief additional note today is the one year anniversary of the murder of Kim Cates. My prayers are with the Cates family always as they continue to deal with the loss.
