Back in Business!

Back at school!!! :) Finally. Spring semester of senior year. I am going to so overwhelmingly busy this semester it's not even funny.
Academics
Well finally a seemingly less stressful semester than the previous couple of semesters.. althought it's only the second day of classes. I am excited about Dramatic Critcism. I think I am going to love that class so much. Friday we are going on a field trip to go to Portland Maine to go see Fully Committed by Becky Mode. I remember when Nate Atkinson did that as a one man show for his senior project. Gender and Power Roles in Media seems really interesting. I think there are going to be a lot of interesting discussions in that class. Persuasion in Propganda should be the most worthwhile class because I am considering to a job in Public Relations for after I graduate so I think what I am going to take away from that class is the tactics I am going to need to persuade to people to go to the event that I am advertising or whatever. Short Story Workshop should be interesting. Writing short stories is not exactly my strength but that's where I can improve. I am also taking another carreer devlopment class that meets on one weekend in February. Time Management has to be on my side this semester so I am not under so much stress.
Extracurriculars
This semester i am going to be pretty much calling the theatre my second home when i am not in the library doing hours and hours of homework. Auditions are next week and for the first time since frehsmen I am not really that nervous about them more excited. I am auditioning for the Mainstage show Fuddy Meers which is going to be an interesting play. If I don't get cast I am going to do stage crew..most likely props. I am also going to be helping out with editing the Henniker Review. I hope my stuff gets published this semester that would be a nice way to end off my senior year.

That is basically my life in a nutshell this semester. Wish me luck with auditions!

Love
Janine

When it comes down to it...

I need to stop living in the past so much and focus on the present. That has been a big part of my problem for a very long time. When you look at my facebook friends list you'll see that it's full of people from high school (other than my close friends of course ) that I haven't talked too since I graduated...people I worked with at Camp Allen 3 summers ago that I haven't talked too or have talked to sporadically since I stopped workig there (mostly Nick and Laura on ocassion) and various other people. I have had a sonewhat hard time letting go of the past and that has been shown more so lately with being afraid of letting go of the people I worked with at the Barn Playhouse this summer (even though that is mostly relevant to Will Porter who i've been kind of fighting with since the end of summer and now we're not speaking). As I said it's time to focus on the present and not the past... last semester I found myself in a fog most of the time because when I wasn't focussed on homework I was focussed on my fight with Will and how I felt I had messed things up between us... maybe that was all in my head ... possibly not but he's moved on and that gives me the indication that I probably should too.
so forget about the past... on to the present
As per natrual break has been boring. That's what I hate about Amherst there is nothing to do. Most of the time I have been catching up with old high school friends and beginning my search for jobs for after I graduate. Here's what i've been up to since I've gotten home from school
On December 22nd I went to a bonfire at my friend Kristen's house. It was awesome because I saw a ton of friends from high school that I had not seen since I gradauted or since they graduated since a majority of the people there were either in the year ahead of me or two years ahead of me.
Christmas and New Years was spent with family. Mom's side for christmas eve at my house. Meal of 7 fishes= delicious as always. Christmas Day was with my dad's side at my aunt Joan's house in Burlington which natually included an intense game of Spoons.. the top rated group card game other than Mafia. A couple days after Christmas I went to see two awesome movies Natuarl Treasure Book of Secerts with Thomas Rossi and Sweeney Todd with Heather and Autumn. Sweeney Todd was amazing! I was surprised by the fact that Johnny Depp could actaully sing. I highly reccomend both movies if you are looking to go to the theatres to go see a movie. New Years I went to a bonfire at my mom's friends house which was fun.
After the holidays have been somewhat uneventful. I went to work for my dad for a couple days at his yard equipment rental office in Milford. I also took a day trip into Portsmouth on Sunday with my parents and Heather to get a feel of the town. I absolutley positiviely love it there and hope to move there eventually after I graduate. Goodbye Amherst!!!

School starts again soon and I can't wait to go back. This semester is going to be incredibly busy for me. I have a full course load 5 classes but most of them are electives which is good.. my brain can relax from doing strenous work for graduation requirements for my major. I am looking most foward to my Dramtic Critcism class. I mean obviously who wouldn't love a class where you go watch plays and write reviews about them? :) I am also looking extremely foward to the play i am going to be in this semester, going to New York over spring break and my suprise act that i'm organizing for a talent show that my theatre department puts on at the end of April.

Updating this blog this semester will be quite sporadic but i will try to update it as much as I possibly can.

Starting over brand new

2008 has arrived! 2007 was a whirlwind of a year that's for sure. I was one so many emotional rolllercoasters it isn't even funny. Especially last semester because of my fight with Will. I've realized all of my errors with that... I may not be able to go back and change them but what I can do is learn from the mistakes I made throughout the course of time we've been fighting and not repeat them in the future. A trend that i've had issues with outgrowing is that I cling on too much to people... that has been a problem of mine since the end of 8th grade. The same thing happened in the situation with Will and if I had selectively chosen to change the way that I acted things would be different now (hence we'd be talking to each other) Hopefully we'll be friends in the future. Who knows what could end up happening.

This is a definining year for me. So many things I can see are going to change. I am graduating from colllege on May 10th. That's gonna hit me like a ton of bricks. Once I walk across that stage and recieve my degree in commuincations school will be over FOREVER!!! Grad school isn't in my cards yet i'm not sure if it's ever going to be. The key thing for me to do this semester is to live every moment of the semester for what it's worth and enjoy spending time with my friends. I have been doing research for jobs and I have decided what I am going to do.
Live at home for a year and work in the area then eventually move to Portsmouth and get an apartment with my best friend from high school Heather. I am considering working for a newspaper or a magazine because writing has always been a passion of mine. As has technical theatre. Working at the New London Barn Playhouse this summer opened my eyes to doing Public Relations work for a theatre. I enjoyed each aspect of the internship thoroughly the PR work, the tech work, acting in two shows with some amazingly talented actors and actresses who are clearly going to go places... I can honestly picture some of them being on Broadway someday and assitant directing a children's theatre play based on one of my mother's children's book. I've had a bit of a hard time moving on from the Barn Playhouse because I've been kind of worried that I'm going to forget the memories I had there this summer and that the peoplee I worked with are going to forget about me. Innocent as that sounds I think it kind of sounds childish because memories will always live on and if I ever happen to cross paths with anyone I worked this summer then we'll always have those memories to remnicise on and laugh about. WHIP IT GOOD!! :)

So this break will be mostly filled with catching up with high school friends and doing research about jobs. When I get back to school I am going to have almost no social life at all. It will be good to be busy because there were sometimes where I felt like I slacked off a lot.. and my grades somewhat reflected that. I will be busy with classes homework and being in a play at school. More details on what show to follow later I am so excited about being in my first show at NEC it should be a blast!

Peace Out! It may be a long time before I update again just to warn those who actually read this

Vindication

So I've been home for break since last Monday. It's been relaxing. I've been spending most of the time catching up on the sleep I lost from the allnighter that I pulled during finals week, catching up with friends from home and trying to finalize plans for my spring trip to New York City. I'm still pretty annoyed that I still haven't gotten the rest of the DVDS from the Barn Playhouse yet. I should have just asked for alll of them before I left in August instead of the ones I wanted to show my internship advisor so he could grade me....even though he never ended up watching them. I put out an email to all the interns in an attempt to see if they will make me a copy of thiers.. I don't really know how successful that is going to be though.
oh the all mighty and powerful grades......

My predictions were probably off by a little bit as they tend to be. Deans List is not a possiblity obviously.. I have one more semester to reach that goal and I'm going to push myself with out stressing myself out too much about it. I have two classes next semester with my Meaning of The Moving Image professor and now that I know what to expect from her grading wise I think I have a much better chance of doing better in her classes. I am also taking Short Story Workshop with Kevin Harvey which should be awesome he's an awesome professor and I've enjoyed the two classes I've had with him in previous semesters and Dramatic Criticism and a two credit theatre lab with Wally Pineault. A theatre lab for those who do not go to NEC basically means I get credit for the play that I am going to be in next semester which I am really excited about. More info to folllow on that after the holidays. Signing off for now ~ Sweet Janine

There's no place like HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Thank the lord this semester is over. IT's certainly been a long one and one word that can sum it up is STRESSFUL!! I've been stressed out more times than I can count this semester not exactly making life the easiest on me. I feel like i've been in a fog for the past month and a half because I've been constantly thinking about my disagreement with Will and how two faced I feel for invovling Nicolina in everything. It's been kind of dragging me down. I've been wondering if Will will forgive me for doing that... but if he hasn't by now then chances are he probably won't and i'll just to live with that. Wheather or not he forgives me I think its best that I move on from him and the rest of the people from the Barn Playhouse.. chances are I proabably won't see any of them again although time can never tell.. I will be in New York during spring break sooooooooooooooooooo..

Now it's time to relax... take my mind off of everything that has been bothering me. Live a little. Begin phase 2 of my life by starting to look for a job and see what's out there.

Goals for the New Year
1. Don't procrastinate and wait to papers til the last minute... this time is not the first that doing that has kicked me in the ass.
2. Take advantage of tutoring at pathways... kind of let that slip the second half of the semester this semester.
3. Upon arrival back at school after break go to the gym two times a week
4. Be better about managing my time ( i guess that can go hand in hand with # 1.
5. Live it up because it's the last semester of school.. forever! Enjoy every minute.
7. Get on deans list

Happy Holidays everyone! And in the words of Buddy the Elf "The best way to spread christmas cheer is by singing loud for alll to hear."

Anxious!!

I seriously think i have an undiagnosed case of ADD. There are times when I don't have trouble focussing.... but there times like now when I can't focus because I am distracted by other things going on. Exhibit A: I should be working on a paper right now that is due on Monday but instead i am surfing the interent. Tomorrow i am going to be an antisocial hermit all day and not leave the libaray except for meals I don't want to be working on these papers at the last minute I had to deal with that last year around this time and it was not fun at all.

I am anxious for this semester to be over......... incredibly horribly bad. This semester has been long... and incredibly stressful. It's been a long and sometimes tedious four months.... I didn't really like the fact that we started school so early this year. Next semester I can breathe a little bit easier because most of my requirements for my major will be completed except for the two film analysis classes I have to take.
Fall Semester Class Ratings (1-10 1- easiest 10-hardest) and Grade Predictions
I'm pretty lousy at predicting my grades but let's see how well I do this time.
Meaning of The Moving Image 7/C/B-
This has been my most challenging class this semester. Anaylizing is not my strong point at all so the reaction papers have not exactly been my strength... they improved as the semester went along and hopefully I can pull myself out of my midsemester rut and pass with a high or low C.
Principles of Public Relations 4/B-
This class has been very interesting and very enjoyable. The reason why I decided to take it was because I enjoyed the public relations work I did at the Barn Playhouse this summer and wanted to learn more about the field so I could furthur investiage if I want to go into that field for a career after I graduate.
Madness in Literature 5/C/B-
I've struggled with some of the reaction papers we had to write on the books we read but for the most part this class was enjoyable. Out of all the books that we read this semester my favorite was Catcher in The Rye
Interpersonal Commuications 4/B
I signed up for this class late because I realized a week after classes had begun that I need it to retake it after failing it last fall. I found the material easier to understand than the first time I took it. I learned a lot about my commuications skils and where they need to be improved.
Career Development 1 (Pass/No Record)
This class was the easiest class I took all semester and it's going to be the most profitable for me because I learned a lot about skills I need to have to effectivley complete my job search.
I'm crossing my fingers for getting on deans list but we will see what happens. Hopefully that is not raising the bar too high for myself.

Next semester I look foward to the following things:
* Not having any night classes or any classes @ 8:30 am
* Dramatic Criticism class
*Going to see a play in Boston with CTE
*The play I am going to be in... my big NEC acting DEBUT!!
*Showcase. Trying to think what I want to do for it. I might try to see if I can get a few people together to sing Seasons of Love as an ensemble number if i ever get my sheet music portfolio back from Beth Boisvert.
*Spring Break in NYC with my loves Cooper, Rae and Heather. Trying to figure out which show we're gonna see between Avenue Q,Wicked (which i've seen ) and Rent. Potentially planning an intern reuinon with the people i worked with over the summer at the Barn. Not really sure if it will end up working out.

Gotta just survive this week of hell then i am at home for a month of relaxation!!
Peace love life (and christmas cheer that i'm spreading by singing loud for all to hear)

Christmas time is almost here!!

Greetings all... Happy December!!

Sometimes I don't feel like I am the most mature person in the world. I keep thinking about my fight with Will and how I could have done things differently related to the whole situation that we are in. It's too late to go back and change things. I totally blew it and now we're not speaking to each other.
Here are a couple of things I would have done different:
1. Not been so in his face with leaving him comments and not left him comments that made him feel awkward and uncomfortable.. because I know there must have been a few of those.
2. Instead of letting it consume my thoughts just let it go.
3. Not get Nicolina involved in the situation and waited for him to talk to me... patience is a virture and patient was something I most certainly was not.... at all!

I'm sure there a few other things I could have done differently too but those are the key things.

This semester is almost over! I am estactially happy. This week is the week where I have to push myself to focus on working on my final papers. I want to try to get them turned in early so I can book it out of here and go home for break on Saturday or Sunday. I've been having trouble focussing on my homework lately.... I think most of it has to do with the fact that I have been feeling so bad about my fight with Will and have been mad at myself for everything that happened between us.... blaming it all on myself because I acted so idiotically and immaturely.

Finals!
PR Presentation due Thursday
Lit;Int Com;Moving Image Papers due on Monday
Career Development: Paper due at 4:30 today.

Next semester I am most definitley excited about my schedule because it is my easiest schedule i've ever had.. no classes at 8:30 and no classes at night. I am looking most foward to taking Dramatic Critcism with Wally. That class is perfect for me. I love watching plays it's going to be fun! I am also taking Short Story Workshop; Gender and Power Roles in Media; Persuasion and Propaganda and a theatre lab. I am excited about the play i am gong to be in next semester too.... it's going to be awesome!

I've been in contact with a lot of my friends from the Barn Playhouse both JIs and interns throughout the semester and I found the most saddening news ever out. My boss Nancy left the Barn. The board of directors make me kind of upset... I mean I know it was Nancy's decision to leave ultimately but that theatre is not going to be the same without her working there. She's amazing! I had the best summer of my life at the Barn Playhouse and it's all because of her because she was the one who hired me. Next summer if I go back to see shows I have a feeling things aren't going to be the same..in varying ways.

Time stamp: 2:37 am... time for bed!!!! Long and busy week ahead of me.

Sweet Janine

and yes i am smartening up a lot to this whole blogging thing because I keep all personal thoughts and drama causing elements off the INTERNET!! Be joyous of me!!
