I just feel the need to rant. I should be doing homework but my brain has already been fried from all the work i have been doing for the past couple days.
I'm sure all of you have been watching the news and have heard about what happened at Virgina Tech. The main question I have is WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with this world... with this country? I am in utter shock.. the last school shooting I remembering being discussed about in the news was Colombine which seems like forever ago. This shooting is far more worse than Colombine. The amounts of deaths and lives that were lost are amazing and I feel so bad for what the people down there have to go through. Something that makes me really mad is that it could of most likely been prevented if the teachers had taken more notice to what was going going on... or maybe if the kid who was the shooter had actually taken advice and went to counseling. What are everyone else's opinions?
The weather is finally starting to look a little brigther and it is finally starting for feel a bit more like spring! Thank the lord. Souhegan has had three flood days in a row and I hope the roads clear up soon. I blame all of the weather craziness on global warming.
This past weekend was a lot of fun. Heather came up to visit me and we had the best time ever. Friday we went to the movies and saw two differeint movies Ali, Erin, Sondra and Heather say The Perfect Stranger and me and Jacci saw Blades of Glory which was flipping amazing!! Jon Heder and Will Ferrell make an amazing comedic team. I can't wait for her to come back and visit spring weekend it's gonna kick ass because spring weekend always tends to kick ass
Speaking of things that kick ass one thing that is kicking my ass right now is school work. Everything's piling up and i'm suprirsed that i haven't had a mental break down yet. I decided not to do stage crew anymore because i just have a lot going on academically right now and I just want to focus on that so I can end this semester on a strong note... after getting two Ns on my midsemster grade report I'm going to need to end the semester on a strong note so I can keep my scholarship money for next year intact. I'm kind of annoyed that I don't know what my grade for broadcasting is. Judy posted them two weeks ago but for some reason the computer system won't let me see my grade. I am really anxious to know how that grade turned out espeically the grade on my final project that partially went to shit because of technichial difficulties. Overall this year has been my most stressful year and I can't wait for it to be over in a couple weeks.
Key factors that have made this year stressful as a whole
~ Having to get back surgury at the beginning of the year which put me behind a week academically
~ Two semesters worth of hard classes... some which potientially drove me crazy and made me want to rip my hair out ( ie Intro To Symbolic Logic; Interpersonal Communications and Broadcasting)
~ The never ending stress of being in too many extracurriculars ( good thing i've eliminated quite a few clubs so i can cut it down to the things I actually enjoy doing)
~ Boy troubles of varying degrees (Break ups and dealing with how stupid guys can be. Realizing how awesome my friends are because they were there for me to listen to me and put up with my various levels of complaining Love you all and hopefully you all know who you are)
So hopefully next year MY SENIOR YEAR (OMFG *eyes bulge out of head*) willl be seemingly less stressfull. My schedule for the fall is a pretty full course load . 5 classes plus an internship with New England College Press.
I am taking:
Mythology The God/Goddes and The Trickster
Meaning of The Moving Image (now that I know what to expect from Vicky Godwin hopefully I get on her good side and get a decent grade.. didn't do so hot in Interpersonal Communications)
Madness in Literature (Two classes with Sylva should be fun, i've never had her before)
Principles of Public Relations
Playwriting I
so since most of my classes for my major will be completed except for two or three my schedule for the spring should be a lot more relaxing. I'll probably take a few other electives maybe anothter theatre elective. It's still while til I have to think about that.
Things to look foward to in the coming weeks
* Under Milk Wood
* Spring Weekend
* Student Awards Night (Hopefully I get an award or two this year *crosses fingers*)
* Movement Concert
* Traces David show @ the Sad Cafe in Plaistow
time for proxying for my friends @ room draw and looooooooooots of homework
Peace out
Janine ( or J9 or J Lef what ever you wanna call me)

Brief Summary
It's been awhile since I've done an actual update so here's one in bullet list form:
Academics:
My classes are going pretty well so far. The work load is somewhat heavier than the last couple semesters combined but at least my time management skills have been somewhat better then they have been in the past couple semesters. I think that the class I like the best so far is Interpeting Contempoary Affairs. While some of the articles we've been reading have been hard to analyze for the most part they are pretty interesting. Doing the reaidng journals is a very interesting thought process . It's interesting to see how the stuff we read about in the articles can relate to my life and whatnot. We have a lot of interesting discussions in Freedom of Speech class too. The Postman reaction paper is a pain to write though. I just started to write it last night naand I hope I willl be able to get it done by Friday and that that I will get a better grade on it than I did when I had to write for media writing last year. My directed study keeps me on my toes. I'm theatre editor for the newenglander. Hopefully the theatre people will give some ideas of what I can write about for articles. The two other classes i'm taking this semester are American Lit Survey 2 and Voice Articulation and Presence in Broadcasting. Voice Articulation and Presence in Broadcasting has been an intersting class. It's the first time i've taken a first seven week course since I've been at NEC so the workload is somewhat heavier than the workload of my other classes. We had a midterm in that class last week and quite honestly I think I bombed it.
Extracurriculars:
The amount of extra curricular I am in has drascitcally cut back since last semester. I decided to eliminate the clubs which I didn't find myself very interested in and that has done wonders for my time management skills. Volleyball started last week and I am so very estacic about the season. We're going to be playing against NHTI and Colby Sawyer and scrimmaging against the John Stark high school volleyball team. We have a tournament in April @ Colby Sawyer but i see a time conflict with doing that alreafy because that's during the same weekend as Under Milk Wood and I hope it won't mess my schedule for crew hours but I don't even know the time of the tournament yet. The clubs i am still in at the moment are Henniker Review, New Englander, CTE, SEC WNEC and Volleyball. I am not sure if I am still going to do my radio show next year or not but let's jus focus on the present ,shall we. Just a reminder that my show is on the air from 1-2 on Fridays so be sure to tune in to WNEC 91.7 FM!!
I am excited about doing crew for Under Milk Wood. I am thinking about doing sound design but I haven't decided yet. I'll have to talk to Darren to see what kind of stuff he has avaiable for me to do.
Friends and Social Life outside of extracurriulars
So basically my friends continue to be awesome and stay amazing. This semester is going to be a ton of fun I have a feeling. Friday Night Movie Society in full swing and we have some pretty crazy times Friday Me, Erin, Jacci, Judy and Sondra all went to go see Norbit. That movie is the most hillarious movie I have seen in awhile.
Miscellanoues Notes
~ Tomorrow is Valentines Day and its going to suck..... again
~ We're supposed to be getting a really huge snowstorm tonight and I am sincerley hoping it will cancel classes tomorrow.
~ I am looking so foward tp , my job at New London Playhouse this summer
~ I had a meeting with the director of the New England College Press yesterday and it went pretty well. Looks like something I might be definitley look into for next semester.
~ The president of our college suddenly resigned on Thursday. When I first heard the news I was shocked because I thought he was doing a really good job.
~ Grammys on Sunday night were amazing. John Mayer is a sexy sexy man!

I hate it when i can't come up with a good title for these entries and it's even worse that you this computer won't let me save the entry without attaching a title to it.
So anyways this semester... hmmm lets see I can't exactlty judge if its going to be easier or harder than last semester.. right now I would say its about midrange. Over break I was worried that I didn't do that good on my dramatic theroy final presentation I went to to talk to Wally on Friday and I ended up doing better than I thought. I hate worrying about my grades for no reason. My schedule is pretty dull this semester because they are basicallly all classes I need for my major. So far I think I am liking my Voice Articulation and Presence in Broadcasting Class the best. That class i is is interesting and I am learning a lot about various ways to improve my public speaking skills. My second favorite class is Freedom of Speech.. I like the discussions we have in that class they really get my mind going. Not looking incredibly foward to writing the Postman reaction paper for a second time but at least time I'll bear in mind not to wait til the last minute to start writing it as I did when I had to write it for Media Writing last year. Besides those classes I am also taking American Lit Survey 2, a directed study as theater editor for The NewEnglander and Interperting Contemporary Affairs.
Oh now I remember why the title of this entry is significant.....
I broke up with Gabe on Saturday night. The break up was mutual in the fact that both of knew that the relationship was not going to work out. We're still going to be friends but he doesn't go to this school anymore so I'll be seeing a lot less of him. I've been dealing with the break up realtively well, however I am still a little hurt at the way it had to end and heartbroken as well. But when it all boils down to it it's time to move on. I'll try not to remember the fact that Valentines Day is in 14 days and i'll be loenly yet again. I'm going to try not to be my typical emo self and not let my loneliness get in the way so much.
I am looking foward to volleyball starting as well as doing stage crew for the mainstage play. I think this is probably going to be my last semester in Womyn's Network because I find myself to be too busy and not have enough time to go to the meetings ( because they are in the time frame when i work at the gallery and it's hard for me to leave) and sometimes because of various ither obligations its hard for me to make the events. Makes me feel guilty sometimes.
*sings*
stronger than yesterday
now it's nothing but my way
my loneliness ain't killlin me no more
I'm I'm stronger
gotta love B Spears!

End of Winter Break 07
So I haven't posted in a couple days. A lot has gone on so I figured you all deserve an update.
First of all my laptop crashed on Tuesday morning so I will be computerless for the first two weeks of school while it is getting repaired. It is partially because of hard drive faliure which means all my work from last semester and all my pictures will be erased and partially the fact that my computer got a virus from a bulliten somebody posted on myspace. I will be deleting myspace very soon for a couple of different reasons:
1. I don't feel very safe on there, never really have.
2. My friends list is pretty much the same on facebook so it won't be to deterimental to anything
3. The fact that I was on it so much last semester when I should have been doing my homework was deterimental to my grades.
4. In my opinion the whole top friends aspect of myspace is quite juvenile. Your life should not be totally consumed or defined by who your top friends are on myspace and if it is well then that's just plain immature. Hopefully no one takes any offense to that, as you shouldn't because that's not directed at anyone particular. Just a general comment.
Winter break has reached its climax and I couldn't be happier. I have been so bored at home it has been almost unberable. My friends are going to start to think I have nothing else better to with my time than to go on facebook and myspace all day long. Once I get back into the swing of things with classes and homework and going to meeetings I will have less time to waste on myspace and facebook. I am looking foward to this semester for many reasons including spring weekend because that is always something to look foward to. I am not auditioning for the plays this semester but will most likely do stage crew for mainstage because I'll be more adjusted to my academic schedule by then.
Yesterday I had a job interview at New London Barn Playhouse in New London NH for a summer job as a theater technician. While it seems like it will be a pretty intensive schedule I am looking incredibly foward to what this job has to offer me if I get it. The job will consist of doing publicity stuff for shows during the day time ( writing press releases etc) and doing tech stuff for the shows they put on during the evening hours. I am keeping my fingers crossed for getting this job because I think it will be an awesome experiencee for me!

Junior Yr 1/2 Way Over
So my junior year of college is rounding into its second semester. I am in awe at how fast everything has passed by. Before we know it it will be the end of another school year and graduation will be upon us. I have a ton of friends who are graduating this year and i'm going to miss them a ton when they leave.. that's why it's important to make this semester count as far as hanging out with them goes *nudges certian people... they should know who they are* Time seems to fly by pretty fast. It seems like just yesterday I was a freshmen looking to find my place in the college world. Now I found my niche. I have kept in groove with what i love to do (theatre and poetry) while at the same time being willing to open my world to new and exciting things (such as playing volleyball)
It is quite daunting to me that I will be a senior next year. It's daunting because I honestly have no idea what I intend to do with my major after I graduate. I mean I love to write poetry but I don't think I can really make much of a living off of that. I have found that I really enjoy writing for the school newspaper. I write articles about the theatre shows and next semester I am going to be theatre editor. I am very excited about that. Over the summer I had an internship with the Milford Cabinet and I really had a lot of fun doing that as well. I found it very interesting to see what goes on behind the scences of an actual newspaper and going on assignment with the various reporters was fun. For this summer I am planning on applying for an internship @ WMUR. I think it would be neat to see what goes on behind the scenes of a tv news room. I also really like theatre stuff so I could see myself doing public relations stuff for a local theatre company somewhere down the the line. There are so many options. It's mindboggling really.
Once I graduate I definitley plan on moving out of Amherst. New York seems like too big of a place. I'd like to maybe live in Concord, Boston or Manchester. Amherst is boring and there is nothing to do when you think of the job market.. except maybe work at Souhegan as a journalism teacher. We'll have to see where my path away from NEC leads me once I graduate next year.

Finals Stress Fall Semester 06
Finals are going to kill me if they haven't started to already. Let's recap all the work i have to do in the next couple weeks:
Interpersonal Communications: 7-10 final paper on Family Interaction Patterns (bascially expanding on thoughts from my chapter 10 reaction which I got a 75 on.. best grade i've gotten on any of the reaction papers... including the extra credit assignment for research night )
Creative Writing: Portfolio of all the stories I wrote this semester
NewEnglander: Portfolio of all the articles I wrote this semester and a final article which will go into the first issue for next semester... which naturally previews what shows are going to be put on next semester.
Symbolic Logic: Test!! The only test i have and it's gonna fuckin kill me
Dramatic Theory: Research paper and final paper on my own theroy of comedy and tradegy. That will need a lot of expanding.... even though i haven't even started to write it yet. I can already tell it will need a lot of expanding though...
I am not sure how many sources we need for the dramatic theory research paper. So far I have got four including the textbook but i am not sure if we need more than that. I don' t want to end up having too much information... but then again i do need something to work with and I think I should have enough.
